About Hope

"When evil people plot, good people must plan. When evil people shout ugly words of hatred, good people must commit themselves to the glories of love." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
Winston Churchill

Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world.
Abraham Lincoln

Compassionate Policies for our People

Grief is widespread in Canadian society and among the people.  Dealing with this grief effectively will help us move forward into the challenges and opportunities of the 21st Century with healing and confidence.

Here are just a few of the things we'd like to do to provide leadership in this important part of human life and experience.  Canadians want to be and deserve to be treated with kindness and compassion as shareholders in the national democratic franchise they have helped to build and protect.

DNA Missing Persons Data Base - The Lindsey Jill Nicholls Law will bring comfort and relief to families whose loved ones have disappeared in some cases.  People heal better with truth.  This can bring closure of some sort to hurting families.  We intend to help free Canadians from their griefs so they can participate fully in society.  This is Justice with Compassion.

The Senate Human Rights Committee Equal Rights for Children Program - Bill S-209 implementation which will make respectful use of the work of the Senate Human Rights Committee, sponsors of this bill. - ** National Security Priority

* The Laura Smith Haviland Global Slave Trade Eradication Program - pro-Human Rights action through policy, legislation and enforcement

* The Doctor Gabor Mate National Addiction Treatment Program - treatments that work rather than 'war on drugs' which feeds the military industry without helping addicts. Dr. Mate was born in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp during World War 2 and has special insight into addiction and treatments that are effective.  He is well known for the safe injection site he directs in Vancouver.  Another amazing Canadian who is helping us build a Sustainable Future.

Dr. Gabor Mate with Steve Paikin on TVO about addiction and compassion.

The Senator Roméo Dallaire Veterans of Foreign Conflicts and Foreign Service Priority Support Program - including - Members of the Armed Forces, diplomats, intelligence personnel, security personnel and families. Priceless!  Named after the Hero of Rwanda and Hotel Rwanda who is a voice for Veterans Rights in the Canadian Parliament.

The current conditions in which our vets live are shameful and we need to start living without this kind of shame.  Naming a highway after our heroes is not enough.

These are some of the Treasures that will make Canada The Wealthy Society in the 21st Century.  It's far more than money and personal ownership and enhances these things through national policy and goodwill towards all Canadians.

Sustained Intentionality is the simple plan we need to accomplish these things and improve the lives of millions of our people.  They are our greatest treasure.  Just keep working at it no matter what and do not entertain the possibility of failure.  That's simply not an option if we intend to deliver hope to our children and the generations who follow.

This is what I call Political Parenting.  In order to be an effective parent in Canada people need to be involved in the political processes in order to protect the lives and interests of their children.

Consider this

Stephen Harper has said, "When I get through with Canada Canadians will not recognize it."

This is already happening and a growing throng of Canadians are not happy with the results. The rest of the world hardly recognizes this Canada either.  Mr. Harper has kept his word to Canadians.

I say, "When WE get through with this country you WILL recognize it.  It will resemble the Canada about which you have dreamed and for which you have laboured and invested and sacrificed.
That Canada will be a place of justice with compassion & prosperity with responsibility.  It will be a world environmental leader for the 21st Century with sparkling clean waters to drink, swim in or fish from - clean water from coast to coast to coast.  This Canada will be for ALL Canadians."
In the end even Stephen Harper will be glad that he was defeated and he will thank us for our work and courage in the face of his belligerence and betrayal.  Then he will also help us build this Canadian Dream upon the foundations we have inherited.

This is the greatest nation in human history because our people have done some things right over the long history of our democracy.  Now we have the opportunity to make it even more right...far more just and compassionate, welcoming and rewarding.

Poor Steve simply does not know what to do - otherwise he might just do it.  But as someone has said, "Some people - they don't know and you can't tell them."

Peace Pays more and better than war!  We have proven that in Canada.  Now let's sell that idea to a hurting world and lead as only we can do.

We alone among nations enjoy sufficient trust in the international community to successfully promote this idea.  We alone have the resources to succeed in this great historic enterprise.

When we achieve that victory THAT will be Canada's finest hour!  You WILL recognize it when you see it.  It will be the image from your imagination and heart.

"Don't keep the peace...pass it on."

        "Civilize.  Don't criminalize."

Canada – The Creative Society - Arts, Sciences, Technologies

Fair Play in Governance Practices - We seem to have forgotten who are our friends [for instance other Canadians in world of hostility and deception] and who are not our friends.

Government Budgets – not merely balanced, but also Sustainable

 Protect and Restore the Environment
The David Suzuki Environmental Plan

Sustainability in ALL things is the goal of this Plan that we would like to call The David Suzuki Plan” after Canada's distinguished environmental scientist.

  • Sustainability is the capacity to endure. In ecology, the word describes how biological systems remain diverse and productive over time. Long-lived and healthy wetlands and forests are examples of sustainable biological systems. For humans, sustainability is the potential for long-term maintenance of well-being, which has environmental, economic, and social dimensions. [Wikipedia - Sustainability]
  • At the 2005 World Summit it was noted that this requires the reconciliation of environmental, social and economic demands – the “three pillars” of sustainability. [Wikipedia – Sustainability]

Restore and Protect the Environment Plan
The Dr. David Schindler Fresh Water Renewal Plan
- to restore and wisely manage all of Canada's fresh water resources
Dr. Schindler has done long-term studies of fresh water and how to restore fouled resources.  "This long-term study of freshwater is part of Schindler's large body of scientific work which has influenced freshwater management policies including the regulation of toxins and the limitation of eutrophication (excessive algal blooms) and acid rain in Canada, the USA and Europe.

Rejuvenate the Planet
- Let's begin with the oceans.  If humanity is to survive for the next hundred or two hundred years then it is imperative that we clean up the frightful Mess in the global ocean systems.  I have a plan to begin this process by harvesting the vast fortune in plastic that is floating in the enormous ocean currents.
There are now simple methods available to tuRn plastic back into petroleum and this can create and sustain at least one new global industry.  But more likely several derivative industries will develop in the 'wake' of this trans-ocean enterprise.

Plastic into oil

Sustainability Treaties
We need to start making Sustainability Treaties with one another and with other nations.  This new idea will help bring the global stewardship Problem into focus.

                    ******************************
The Sustainable Economics Plan
We can achieve much more with much less if we learn to be more economical.  Economy USED to mean being careful with resources.  More recently it has come to mean rip, use, destroy and consume everything as fast as possible and ignore the resultant messes and shortages.  If we intend to leave any kind of safe and useful world for our families then we must be good environmental and economic stewards.
"Don't use it up.  Use it gently."

First Nations Crisis Rapid Resolution Plan
 - Justice for First Nations through legislation and review of the Indian Act as well as Land Claims Rapid Settlement processes, representatives in Parliament, community renewal resources and much more.
                              ***********

Enhanced National and International Security Plan
 - Two new Northern bases for the Armed Forces with a strong First Nations component and permanent land access roads.  This will prove sovereign ownership while opening the North for industry, commerce, travel and tourism, investment, development and preservation and further integration of Northern Canada into the national fabric.
"We stand on guard for thee!"

Peace Pays – The Peace Based Economy

                     ******************************
The National Locally Grown Food Program

-   a step towards independent food production which is a national security matter as well as  a health issue.

Food, Water and Resource Security Measures - Let's make it our goal to provide fresh locally grown food for Canadians in all communities in Canada.  We have the know-how and we need a plan that gets it done.  Micro-agriculture will helps solve some of this puzzle and this can be reinforced by immigration policy that welcomes third world farmers who can feed us on site rather than from the other side of the globe.  we have to reduce our use of petroleum and this is one way to begin.
This will launch yet another industry that will go global in time.
"Canada is the new California when it comes to world changing ideas."

                    ******************************

"Good government provides a framework for people and businesses to survive and  succeed and to create employment and tax earnings for the nation. Creative government that can see the way forward in these areas is good government in this highly competitive age of technology and data."
                    ******************************

Value The People Above All modern Human Rights based democratic values and 'citizen based democracy'

Do not continue to criminalize citizens, but rather civilize our people through education, culture, and via opportunities in education and employment, in business and government.
"All Canadians own a share in the CANADA franchise."
                    ******************************

The Global Slavery Eradication Initiative
 - There are millions of slaves spread around the world who are forced to contribute their personal resources [their lives] so we can enjoy a plush and prosperous lifestyle in North America.  To me this resembles the attitude one might have encountered in Atlanta, Georgia just prior to the Emancipation Declaration and American Civil War.  Those deluded folks believed that they were 'entitled' to these special Rights and Freedoms at the expense of others.  Canadians also now suffer from a culture of entitlement that has lulled us into accepting horrific conditions in order to prosper.

Those good folk in Atlanta were wrong and we are wrong today to accept chocolate, clothing, machines, minerals, and so on that have been produced or extracted with slave labour - both child and adult slavery in the tens of millions of vulnerable souls.

This is NOT compassionate economic policy....nor is it Just.  [Therefore it does not meet the standards for this Plan.]

                    ******************************
The Stanley Howard Knowles Democratic Renewal in House of Commons and Senate as well as in society Plan.
- Decentralization of powers that have been consolidated into the PMO. Redistribute these powers across representatives [MPs], committees and so forth.
- The wide distribution of powers insures that democracy will thrive and endure for many generations.
- Mini Royal Commissions

"Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will."

Delivering Hope

This new blog is intended to be the vehicle for the Plan of Hope that I have been developing with a team of other Canadians.

We are all concerned for our families and alarmed about the possible outcomes faced by our children in the 21st Century.  This plan is based upon math and analysis rather than ideology, so it welcomes and needs the participation of all Canadians.

I have used my own Administration skills to develop this Plan and it is intended to follow upon and complement the material in the essays set Building The Canadian Dream and the bookblog Delivering Hope.  I have done this and am doing it out of a sense of duty as a parent, as a Canadian, and Global citizen.

I am convinced that the resources we have at our disposal makes us the only possible nation able to provide leadership as we confront the Global Crisis about which I have been writing for several years.  This is the nuts and bolts of the available Solutions as I see it presently.

"This is the first generation in human history in which parents must turn to their children in order to learn the skills necessary for survival [and success]."

As always I take the view and side of young people -  babies and infants, children and youths, young adults and the young @ heart who are looking for Equality and Inclusion in this effort to survive and succeed together in the 21st Century.  These people have no voice and so I speak for them.  They want to be included and to be treated justly.

We can do this together with great ease and great profit.   We can do it with great joy and satisfaction at every stage of the project.  I'm already doing it with a growing crowd of others.  I hope you'll join us soon and help us to Build this Dream.

There is no substitute for Hope.  It brings comfort, inspiration, motivation, imagination, along with self-confidence and self-respect.  Presently our children are largely without hope and I intend to continue to change that.

"Peace Pays more and better than war."

"Don't just keep the peace as required by law and religion...pass it on."
